George Bird is an acclaimed English translator renowned for bringing the works of Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkov to the English-speaking world. A former MI5 linguist and close family friend of the author, Bird translated several of Kurkov’s most famous satirical novels and is the recipient of the 1986 Pluto Crime Prize for his own novel, Death in Leningrad. -- Open Book Publishers
